Interdisciplinary project 2015 in Schwanden

For the 8th time, students of the Masters Forest and Landscape Management used the 2-weeks field course of the Interdisciplinary Project to solve current issues of forest praxis.

After 2014, this year’s event took again place in Schwanden in the canton of Glarus. On behalf of the canton, the students worked on a rockfall risk analysis of a famous visiting site, a habitat analysis for a bird species that has lately revealed strong decline in population, a development-prediction of a “Totalreservat”-forest and the setup of a detailed managing plan for protection forests. During the two weeks in Schwanden, the students were supported by members of the professorships of forest ecology and land use engineering. After the results had been presented in a final meeting, the canton has already invited  ETH to come back for the interdisciplinary project in 2016.
